Live sites you can open and judge for yourself

Trades, clinics, shops, transport firms and professional services. More than 200 websites since 2022, for businesses from one person trades to teams of fifty. Open any site below on your phone, see how fast it loads and how it reads. That is the standard your site gets.

Most of the work above sits with clients in Australia. We work with businesses across the UK on exactly the same basis, and you deal with the two of us either way.

Every website design project includes this as standard.

What you get in a website design package

There are no tiers where the important things are held back. Whether you are a single shop on the high street or a business trading nationwide, a responsive website that loads quickly and can be found on Google is the baseline, not an upgrade.

Responsive web design

The site is built to work on phones first, then tablets and desktops. More than half your visitors will be on a phone.

Fast loading pages

Compressed images, clean code and proper caching. We test every build in Google PageSpeed Insights before launch.

SEO ready from day one

Page titles, headings, image names and a sitemap set up so Google can index the site properly and rank it for local searches.

A CMS you can edit

Built on WordPress so you can change text, prices and photos yourself without ringing us or breaking anything.

Contact forms that work

Tested end to end so enquiries actually reach your inbox. This fails more often than you would think.

Google Business Profile setup

We create or tidy your listing and connect it, which is what puts you on the map for near me searches.

SSL and security

HTTPS, spam protection on forms and automatic backups, all configured before the site goes live.

Analytics and Search Console

So you can see how many people visit, what they search for and which pages bring in enquiries.

Two weeks of free fixes

Anything that needs adjusting in the first fortnight after launch is sorted out at no charge.

Types of website we design.

Small business and enterprise sites, online shops and redesigns

Most projects fall into one of these, whatever the size of the business behind them. If yours does not, tell us what you have in mind and we will say honestly whether it is something we should be doing.

Small business website design

Four to eight pages covering what you do, your work, your prices and how to contact you. Enough to look credible and take enquiries, and easy to add to as the business grows.

WordPress website design

Built on WordPress so you can edit text, prices and photos yourself. It runs a large share of the web, which means you are never dependent on us to maintain it. Read more on our WordPress development page. A fast site works best paired with SEO so people can actually find it.

Ecommerce website design

Online shops on WooCommerce or Shopify, with product pages, payments, postage rules and stock all configured and tested before launch.

Website redesign

Rebuilding a site that looks dated or loads slowly. We map every old page to its new address first, so your existing Google rankings carry across rather than being lost.

Booking and enquiry sites

For trades, clinics and services where the goal is a filled in form or a booked slot rather than a browse. The whole layout is built around that one action.

Multi page service sites

Larger sites of ten to twenty pages where each service needs its own page to rank properly, rather than everything crammed onto one.

Website design pricing.

How much does a website cost in the UK?

Most of our website design projects fall between £[X] and £[Y] plus VAT. You get a fixed quote before we start, so the number you are given is the number you pay.

How that compares

UK agencies typically charge £3,000 to £7,000 for a small business website, and a brochure build usually takes four to eight weeks. Do it yourself builders sit under £200 a year, and you do all the work.

We sit between the two. Not because we cut corners, but because we have built this kind of site more than 200 times and know exactly how long it takes.

Ongoing costs

Hosting is roughly £[X] a year and a .co.uk domain about £[X] a year. Both stay in your name. Maintenance is optional at £[X] a month, and if you do not take it we still fix things by the hour at £[X].

Our web design process.

How we design and build your website

Six steps from first call to launch. You know what is happening at every one of them.

1

A call, about twenty minutes

You tell us what the business does and what the site needs to achieve. We ask who your customers are and what they search for. No charge, no pressure.

2

A written quote in one working day

A fixed price, a page list and a launch date in writing. If scope changes later, we price it and tell you before doing it.

3

Design you approve first

A mockup of the home page and one inside page. You request changes and we make them, all before the balance is due.

4

The build, two to four weeks

Where projects usually slip, and it is almost always late content. Send your logo, photos and service list early and the date holds.

5

Testing before launch

Checked on phone, tablet and desktop, run through PageSpeed Insights, and every form tested so enquiries actually arrive.

6

Launch and two weeks of free fixes

We set up your Google Business Profile, submit to Search Console and hand over every login. Fixes in the first fortnight are free.

Choosing a web design company.

How to tell a good web designer from a bad one

You do not need to take our word for any of this. Every one of these is something you can check yourself, about us or about anyone else quoting you.

Run their client sites through PageSpeed

A designer who does not test performance will hand you a site that looks fine and loads in eight seconds. Ask for two live client URLs and check them.

Check the portfolio links to live sites

Pictures of designs are not evidence. If the portfolio is screenshots rather than working addresses, ask why.

Ask whether the price is fixed or an estimate

An estimate is where scope creep starts. Get the number, the page count and the launch date in writing before you pay a deposit.

Ask who will own the domain and hosting

If the answer is anything other than you, walk away. It is the single most common way small businesses get trapped with an agency.

Website design questions.

Questions we are asked before every project

Most small business websites cost between £[X] and £[Y] plus VAT. UK agencies typically charge £3,000 to £7,000 for the same thing. We give you a fixed quote before starting, so the price does not move.

Three to four weeks for a standard business site. Larger sites and online shops take six to eight. The UK average for a brochure build is four to eight weeks. Delays are nearly always caused by content arriving late.

Yes. Every site is built mobile first, because more than half your visitors will be on a phone. We test on phone, tablet and desktop before launch.

Yes. Domain, hosting and site are registered in your name from day one. If you want to move to another company, you take everything with you and we help you do it.

Yes. We map every old page to its new address before launch so links and rankings carry across. Sites lose rankings in a redesign when nobody does this.

Yes, on WooCommerce or Shopify. Product pages, payments, postage rules and stock are all set up and tested before the shop goes live.

Priced separately

Written content, licensed photography, hosting and domain renewals, online shops, booking systems and any pages beyond the number agreed. We tell you the cost of these before work starts, never after.

Looking after the site afterwards starts at £25 a month. Updates, backups, monitoring and security, billed monthly with no minimum term.
