Search help for Bishop, Weardale and Teesdale firms
Most people who need a business in Bishop are not standing in the Market Place when they search. They are in Leeds planning a weekend, in Newcastle booking a Kynren show, or on the A68 looking for a farm shop. Our SEO Bishop Auckland work makes sure your business shows up for them, not just for people already in DL14.
HS Tech Solution charges £399 a month with VAT included. Hamza Shafiq, the owner, is based in Durham, 22 minutes up the A690. Sit down with him there, or start with a call or a video chat.
Half rural, half town. The Bishop Auckland parliamentary seat holds 3,555 businesses. 775 of them are farms, and 9 in 10 employ fewer than ten people. (Nomis, UK Business Counts 2026)

Who finds you, and from where
Google sorts local results by match, distance and fame: does your business fit the words typed, how near is it, and how well known is it? When the searcher names a place, Google uses that place instead of where they are sitting. That changes everything for a dale business. (Google Business Profile Help)
Here are five searches we see this area depend on, and what each one needs.
Where they are: at home in Yorkshire, on a laptop, on a Sunday night.
What they type: “dog friendly cottage Weardale” or “holiday let near Stanhope”.
What your listing needs: the dale named on your site and in your Google Business Profile, a page per cottage, clear dog rules, and photos taken this year.
Where they are: on their phone, an hour before they leave.
What they type: “pub food near Kynren” or “parking near Kynren Saturday night”.
What your listing needs: opening hours that are right on show nights, a menu that loads fast on a phone, and the walk time from your door to the park.
Where they are: in a hotel in Durham, planning tomorrow.
What they type: “cafe near Spanish Gallery” or “lunch Market Place Bishop”.
What your listing needs: your street named in plain words, fresh reviews, and a short “near the Castle” line on your contact page.
Where they are: in a car on the A68 or A689.
What they type: “farm shop near me” or “fresh eggs Wolsingham”.
What your listing needs: the right category in Google, a pin that is on your gate and not in a field, and seasonal hours updated before they change.
Where they are: in Teesside, comparing venues six months ahead.
What they type: “barn wedding venue County Durham”.
What your listing needs: a page that answers capacity, dates and price bands, plus reviews that mention weddings by name.
None of these people walk past your door first. They meet your business on a screen, so that screen has to do the selling.
For holiday lets, B&Bs and farm stays
You can keep both. The question is how many bookings you pay commission on.
Airbnb now takes a single fee of 15.5% from UK hosts, after the UK switched over on 22 June 2026. Booking.com’s standard UK commission is 15%. On a cottage that earns £20,000 a year through those sites, roughly £3,000 goes back to them.
A direct booking costs you nothing in commission. People who stayed once often search your cottage name next year. If your own site does not show up for that name, the platform listing does, and you pay again for a guest you already won.
Prices with VAT shown
The monthly fee is £399, and that figure already has VAT in it. You sign up for three months as a minimum. Some trades need longer because the competition is heavier, and we tell you that before you sign.
Few firms that rank as an SEO agency in Bishop Auckland publish a monthly price. For a wider view, Whito’s July 2026 study found most UK businesses pay £500 to £2,000 a month, with local only work starting around £300.
What is in the £399:
A four minute check
On 16 October 2026 we searched Google for SEO in this town. One firm on page one showed a Google Maps listing marked “Permanently closed”, with an address in Middlesbrough. Its web page still describes it as a firm based in the town.
That firm may well be working from somewhere new. But it shows why a four minute check is worth doing before you sign anything.
1
Is it open, and where is it really?
2
Does a real person pick up in office hours?
3
Is the company active?
4
Get a name, not a team page.

Checked against council updates, October 2026
The town is changing fast. Durham County Council has £33.2 million from the Stronger Towns Fund for 10 projects. That sits beside £19.8 million from the Future High Streets Fund. As of October 2026, the work includes:
When roads and car parks move, old directions on your listing send people the wrong way. A wrong turn often ends in a lost sale.

Numbers, with the weak spot left in
Our clearest SEO result so far is for an electrician in Australia. Our past clients are mostly Australian firms, and we would rather you knew that up front.
In Google Search Console, that site grew from 375 to 4,600 impressions, with an average position of 2.7. Clicks stayed flat over the same period, and we will not pretend otherwise. More views come first. Getting those views to pick up the phone is the next job.
Where we help
We work with firms in the town itself, Shildon, West Auckland, Coundon, Evenwood, Cockfield, Crook, Tow Law, Wolsingham, Stanhope, St John’s Chapel, Barnard Castle and Middleton-in-Teesdale.
For websites, see our web design page for the town. For a wider look at what we do here, see our Bishop Auckland hub page, or our SEO service.
Short, honest answers
Searches for your own cottage name usually move first, because few sites compete for them. Wider searches like “cottage Weardale” take longer, because big booking sites fight for them too. Your month one plan sets out which searches are realistic in three months and which need longer.
Yes, if they name your area in the search. Someone typing “farm shop Weardale” can see you from anywhere. That only works if your site and Google profile name the dale, your village and what you sell, in plain words that match how people search.
No. Google compares you with firms nearby, not with city firms. In a dale, five fresh reviews can matter more than fifty would in Newcastle. What counts is that they are recent and real, and that they mention what you do.
It can be, if one or two extra jobs a month cover the cost. A joiner or plumber in Crook may only need to win the map pack for a few searches. We check the search numbers in month one and tell you honestly if the sums do not work.
Yes. We work on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Shopify sites. If the old builder has gone quiet, we help you find out what you own first, such as your domain and hosting logins. Then we fix what holds the site back in search.
It does. Google says its AI answers rely on the same pages and listings that its normal search ranks. Clear facts, consistent details and good reviews help these tools describe you correctly. We check what they say about you each month at no extra cost.
Update your Google profile hours, pin and parking note the day things change. Then add a line to your contact page so visitors read the same advice everywhere. For SEO clients, we make these updates as part of the monthly work, with no extra charge.
For Maps, Google uses your real address, so you rank best close to it. For web results, a firm in Shildon or Crook can rank for searches about the town with a clear page about serving it. Name real streets and jobs on that page.
It lists the searches you rank for, the jobs we did that month, and what comes next. It is written in plain English, not tool screenshots. If something did not move, the report says so and explains what we will try instead.
