Squarespace suits businesses that are sold on how they look. Studios, salons, photographers, cafes, consultants and venues. We set it up so the design holds together and the site still gets found.

Dane ThornburghPersonal brandingOpen the live site →Most of the work above sits with clients in Australia. We work with businesses across the UK on exactly the same basis, and you deal with the two of us either way.
It is the strongest of the drag and drop platforms for visual work, and its templates are hard to make ugly. That matters when the product is partly how you look.
01
Galleries, portfolios and menus display properly without fighting the layout. For a photographer or a venue that is most of the job done.
02
Squarespace holds fonts and spacing together across pages, so the site does not drift as you add to it.
03
Appointments, classes and consultations can run natively, which suits salons, clinics and studios without bolting on extra tools.
04
Clients tend not to break Squarespace layouts. If you plan to update the site weekly, that is worth a lot.
Squarespace trades flexibility for polish. The template does a lot of the thinking, which is why it looks good, and also why you hit walls. Monthly fees run higher than self hosted WordPress once you add commerce or scheduling, and as with Wix, the site cannot be exported and moved to another host.
If you need custom functionality, a large catalogue, or serious technical SEO control, WordPress is the better long term home. We will say which one fits at the quote stage rather than after you have paid.
No export route
Leaving means rebuilding elsewhere, not transferring. Worth knowing on day one.
Template boundaries
Custom features often need workarounds, and some simply are not possible.
Monthly cost adds up
Commerce and scheduling tiers push the running cost above self hosted WordPress.
Fixed price agreed before we start, and nothing goes live until you have walked through it yourself.
STAGE 01
We look at what you sell and pick a template that suits it, rather than starting from whichever one looks nicest.
STAGE 02
Pages mapped, copy shaped, images sized and compressed so the site loads quickly on a phone.
STAGE 03
The site is built out, then we go through it with you page by page on desktop and mobile.
STAGE 04
Domain connected, SEO fields completed, forms tested, and a walkthrough so you can edit it yourself.
Our UK partner is based in County Durham, and we work with independents right across the region and the rest of the country. Squarespace projects run comfortably at a distance, so where you are makes little difference to the build.

We quote the design and build as a fixed price once we know the page count and what content you are supplying. The Squarespace subscription is paid by you directly to them and we take no cut of it.
If the site is mainly a visual shopfront and you want to manage it yourself, Squarespace is a sound choice. If you need custom features, a large catalogue or maximum SEO control, choose WordPress. We give you our honest view before you commit.
Not as a straight transfer. Squarespace sites cannot be exported and rehosted, so moving means rebuilding. Your domain, text and images come with you, the pages do not. Worth factoring in at the start.
Yes, scheduling is built in and works well for salons, clinics, studios and consultants. It sits on a higher subscription tier, which we will flag in the quote so the running cost is clear.
Yes. Titles, descriptions, headings, alt text, sitemap and Google Business Profile alignment all apply. Our SEO service works on Squarespace, though some deep technical work has a lower ceiling than WordPress.
We can. Have a look at branding and logo design and marketing and print design. Doing them together means the brand is only worked out once.
Yes, and Squarespace is one of the harder platforms to break. We hand over the account with a walkthrough and written notes so routine edits do not come back to us.
Yes. The domain stays registered in your name, whichever platform we build on. No release fees, no leverage, ever.

You pay for the build. Squarespace charge you separately for their own plan, and that fee goes straight to them. Our figure is fixed in writing before we start, with a launch date attached.

What every price includes
Custom design rather than a stock template, mobile and tablet layouts, a working contact form, Google Maps, basic on page SEO, an SSL certificate and speed tuning. You own the domain, the hosting login and the site itself.
Priced separately
Written content, licensed photography, hosting and domain renewals, online shops, booking systems and any pages beyond the number agreed. We tell you the cost of these before work starts, never after.
Looking after the site afterwards starts at £25 a month. Updates, backups, monitoring and security, billed monthly with no minimum term.
