Bishop Auckland, Weardale and Teesdale
HS Tech Solution is a small digital marketing agency for Bishop Auckland firms that want more calls, bookings and visits from Google. A one page site to get you started costs from £99. Hamza Shafiq, the owner, lives in Ushaw Moor, which Google Maps puts 10.6 miles from the Market Place, about 21 minutes by car. He meets clients face to face in Durham, or by phone or video if the drive does not suit. We build sites, fix Google listings and run ads for shops, trades, farms and holiday lets across the area.

Visitor calendar
Bishop has two shopping pulls. Tindale Retail Park draws car trips. The Market Place draws people on foot, by bus and for days out. One busy Reddit thread on the Durham forum argued about how out of town retail affects the old centre. For a small business, the useful question is simpler. Can a visitor standing in either spot find you on their phone?
Visitors do not arrive evenly through the year. They come in waves, and each wave searches for food, parking, gifts and somewhere to stay. Here is the calendar for the months ahead, checked on each organiser’s own site in October 2026.

Behind those dates sits the year round draw of The Auckland Project: Auckland Palace, Auckland Tower, the Spanish Gallery, the Mining Art Gallery, the Faith Museum, the gardens and the deer park. Palace tickets start at £16.50, so these are people who have planned a day out and will look for lunch nearby.
The town itself keeps changing. The Bishop Auckland Regeneration programme says more than £192 million is going into transport, leisure and culture, with a target of 3,750 new jobs. The new £6.4 million bus station opened in May 2026. A £27.3 million leisure centre and library hub is being built, and Thrive Leisure expects it to open in late 2027.
Why timing matters
Whitespark’s 2026 survey of local search experts ranks “open at the time of search” fifth for map results. A cafe that shows as closed on Google during the light trail can drop out of the map, even if the door is open.
Nomis UK Business Counts 2026
The constituency has 3,555 registered businesses, according to Nomis UK Business Counts for 2026. Of those, 3,225 employ fewer than ten people. That is 90.7 per cent. Not one firm in the area employs 250 or more. So the person reading this is usually the owner, the bookkeeper and the marketing team all at once.
The mix is unusual. Farming, forestry and estates make up 775 firms, or 21.8 per cent. Across County Durham as a whole, the figure is 8.8 per cent. Here is what each of the five biggest groups tends to need first online.
| Type of business | Local firms | What usually helps first |
|---|---|---|
| Farms, estates and forestry | 775 | A simple page for the farm shop, holiday let or glamping site, with booking and opening times that work on a phone with weak signal in the dale |
| Builders and trades | 555 | A full Google Business Profile, a click to call button and a page for each job you want more of |
| Professional firms | 335 | Clear service pages that answer the questions clients ask before they ring an accountant or surveyor |
| Cafes, pubs and places to stay | 285 | Fast mobile pages, menus as text not photos, and up to date opening hours on Google |
| Shops | 215 | Product or stock pages people can find before they set off, plus Click and Collect if you offer it |
If your firm sits in one of these groups, we start with the step in that row. It is the job most likely to bring in work this month.
Website takeover
Small agencies close or stop taking work. One firm that ranks for local SEO searches now shows a notice on its own site saying it has paused new projects. If your web person has stopped replying, your site may still run, but nobody is updating it or renewing the parts that keep it safe.
Here is how we take a site over:
1
We check who holds the domain, hosting and Google accounts. Domain and hosting should be in your name. If they are not, we guide you through moving them.
2
Before we change anything, we back up the site and its database.
3
Out of date plugins, a broken contact form or an expired security certificate come first. See our website maintenance service.
4
Once it is safe, we look at speed, content and how it shows up in search.
You keep control at every step. If you leave us later, everything stays in your name.
Services
A digital marketing agency helps people find your business online and then choose you. For a small local firm, that usually comes down to six jobs:
Websites that load fast and make it easy to ring, book or visit. See our Bishop Auckland web design page for local prices.
SEO, so your pages show up when locals search for what you sell. See our SEO service.
Google Business Profile, so you appear on the map. See Google Business Profile management and local SEO.
Google Ads and Meta Ads, for quick leads while SEO builds. See Google Ads and Meta Ads.
Print design, because people here still search for printers in the town. See marketing and print design.
Branding, so your van, menu and website all look like one business. See branding and logo design.
Also see local SEO and Meta Ads.
Here is a local detail worth knowing. When we searched for a marketing agency in Bishop Auckland in October 2026, the three agencies on Google’s map had 7, 3 and 1 reviews. Reviews are a ranking factor for the map, so in a town this size a handful of genuine reviews from real customers can move you up.
Google says its AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same basics as normal search, with no special tricks required (Google Search Central). We stick to those basics. Clear pages, real facts and a complete Google listing help you in both.
Who you deal with
You talk to the person doing the work. Hamza Shafiq owns HS Tech Solution and has close to five years of experience building sites and running search work. He lives in Ushaw Moor, on the edge of Durham, so the A690 brings Bishop within about 21 minutes. Meetings happen in Durham, or on the phone or a video call if that suits you better.
HS Tech Solution has completed more than 800 projects since 2022. We work to a simple rule: no lock in tricks, no made up numbers, and your accounts stay in your name.
Proof
We would rather show you scores you can check than ask you to trust a claim. These are client sites tested on Google’s PageSpeed Insights in September 2026:
Our client list so far leans heavily on Australia. We do not have a client in the town to show you yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Open pagespeed.web.dev, paste in any of our client sites, and you will see the same kind of result on your own screen.

We work with firms across the town and the wider constituency, including:

FAQ
Yes, if you spend on the right job first. For most small local firms, that means a complete Google Business Profile, a fast mobile site and fresh reviews. These cost little and keep working. Paid ads can wait until those basics are right, because ads sending people to a slow or confusing page waste money.
No. HS Tech Solution is based in Ushaw Moor, Durham, 10.6 miles from Bishop Auckland Market Place by road. We say this plainly because some agencies claim a town address they do not have. Hamza meets clients in Durham or by phone and video, and works with firms across County Durham.
It is worth it when you have a set budget, no time to do the work yourself and a way to handle the extra calls. It is not worth it if nobody answers the phone or follows up enquiries, because more visitors will not turn into sales. A freelancer can suit one fixed job, such as a single website.
Start Up Loans, the government backed scheme, suggests start ups spend around 12 to 20 per cent of revenue on marketing, and established firms 6 to 12 per cent. A micro firm can begin far lower. Many local firms start with a one page site and a well kept Google listing, then add more once enquiries come in.
Yes. We can build a simple site with a booking link, opening times, a map and directions that make sense when signal drops in the dale. We also set up your Google listing so walkers and Kynren visitors can find you. If you already use a booking platform, we link to it rather than replacing it.
Yes. Durham Business Growth is a fully funded programme for County Durham firms, with events such as an AI and digital marketing bootcamp on 4 November 2026 at Newton Aycliffe. Business Durham also runs a Bishop Auckland and Shildon Business Network. Check each scheme’s current terms before you apply, as funding rounds change.
Yes. We first check who owns your domain, hosting and Google accounts, then back up the whole site before changing anything. After that we fix security and broken features, and only then work on speed and search. If something is registered in the old company’s name, we guide you through getting it moved to yours.
Expect early movement in a few weeks on your Google listing and around three to six months for steady gains in normal search. Small market towns are often quicker than cities, because fewer firms compete for each search. Our SEO plans run for at least three months for that reason.
No, but it is changing where people see you. Google now shows AI answers above many results, and Google says those answers draw on the same pages and listings as normal search. So a clear website, honest facts and a complete Google listing matter more, not less, when people ask AI for a local firm.
You do. The domain and hosting are bought by you, in your name, with our help on each step. That way, if you ever move to another provider, you take everything with you. We think this is the fair way to work, and it protects you if a supplier ever goes quiet.
