Websites for Gateshead firms, from the Metrocentre to Team Valley
Gateshead is not “the other side of Newcastle”. Your customers shop at the Metrocentre, buy on Team Valley and walk down Durham Road, and your website should talk to them. That is how we do web design in Gateshead: a clear price up front, a straight answer when you call, and a domain in your name.

Gateshead is mostly small firms. Of about 5,700 businesses in the borough, around 85% employ fewer than 10 people (Nomis UK Business Counts). Most of them trade in one of four very different places. Here is what visitors in each one look for first, and what your site should give them.
| Metrocentre and The Crescent | Team Valley Trading Estate | Baltic Quarter and the Quayside | Low Fell and Saltwell Park | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who is looking | Shoppers planning a trip to a centre with close to 300 shops | Trade buyers, warehouse managers and office staff | Other firms, clients and event visitors near BALTIC and the Sage | Locals on Durham Road and families heading to the park |
| What they check first | Is it in stock? Where in the centre are you? | Can you supply us, and how fast? | Who are you, and what have you done before? | Are you open now? Can I book? |
| What your site needs | Product photos, unit location, late opening times | Service area, lead times, a trade enquiry form, spec sheets | Clear services, past work, a named contact | Opening hours, event day times, a map, tap to call |
| The risk if you skip it | You sit next to Zara and Sephora but look less trusted online | A buyer moves to the next supplier on the estate | A client picks the firm next door with a stronger portfolio | They walk past to the café with a Google listing |
The Crescent opened in July 2026 as a hub of small units for independent brands, beside big names like Zara, Hollister and Sephora. A new stall there is trading next to firms with large web teams. A clean, fast site with clear photos closes that gap for very little money.
The estate is home to around 700 businesses and about 20,000 workers (UK Land Estates). Units keep changing hands, such as the Earlsway Trade Park sale in September 2026. New tenants need a site that says who they are, where they are on the estate and how to open a trade account.
The Northern Design Centre on Abbots Hill is home to creative and design firms, and well over 100 companies are registered at its NE8 3DF postcode. Here, buyers compare you with the firm down the corridor. Your site has to show real work and a real person.
Durham Road is lined with independent shops, cafés and pubs, a short walk from Saltwell Park. The park turned 150 in 2026 and runs events through the year, from a summer celebration day to a Halloween trail. On those days, a café whose website and Google Business Profile both show the right hours gets the walk in trade.
Prices across the UK vary a lot. Published 2026 guides put a DIY builder at a few hundred pounds a year and a regional agency at £2,000 to £6,000 or more. On Google’s first page for Gateshead, only one local firm shows a starting price, at £300. The rest ask you to call for a quote.
Here is ours, in plain terms.
The £99 price is a real product you can buy today. It is not a teaser. If you need booking, an online shop or trade accounts, we tell you the full price before any work starts.

“Free web design Gateshead” is a common search, and some local offers do exist. Free can work, but ask three questions before you sign up.
Who owns the domain? If the supplier holds it, leaving can mean losing your address and your Google history.
Is there a monthly fee later, or adverts on your pages? Read the terms for the second year, not just the first.
Test it yourself. Open the site on your own phone over 4G and time how long it takes to load.
With us, you pay once for the build, and the domain and hosting sit in your name. If you ever move on, you take everything with you.
Most people will meet your business on a small screen first. Ofcom’s Online Nation research shows the smartphone is the main way UK adults go online. Google also uses the mobile version of a page for ranking (Google Search Central). So every site we build is checked for four things.
Pages load fast on a normal mobile signal, not just on office wifi.
Your number is a button, so a buyer on the Kingsway can ring you in one tap.
Clear directions to your shop, unit or office, linked to Google Maps.
The times on your site match your Google Business Profile, so nobody turns up to a locked door.
A short call or meeting. We agree your pages, your goal and the price in writing.
We map out each section and write the words with you. You send photos, or we help you choose some.
Your site is built in WordPress on a private link that only you can see.
We test speed, forms and buttons on real phones. You ask for any changes.
The site goes live on your domain. We connect Google Search Console and show you how to edit text yourself.
Bigger sites take longer. We give you the timeline before you pay.

A straight price and someone who answers the phone.

When Gateshead owners review local web designers on Google, the same things come up again and again: clear communication, quick turnaround, useful advice and help with updates after launch. Those are the four things we hold ourselves to. And we know Gateshead is its own place, not “part of Newcastle”, so your site will say Gateshead where your customers expect to see it.
We would rather show scores you can test than ask you to take our word for it. These are mobile PageSpeed scores for two sites we built, tested in September 2026.
Run them yourself on PageSpeed Insights. Both clients are in Australia, as most of our past work is. We are building our North East client list now, and we will share Gateshead results once we have them.

Ten questions Gateshead owners ask us most, from cost and ownership to what happens after launch.
A one page site with us starts at £99. A site with several pages, booking or a shop is quoted after a free chat, and the price is agreed in writing first. Across the UK, regional agencies often charge £2,000 to £6,000, so always ask what is included.
It depends on who builds it. DIY builders cost a monthly fee. Freelancers often charge from around £1,000. Agencies tend to start higher. Ask for the price of the build, the yearly running costs and who owns the domain before you compare quotes.
Published 2026 UK price guides put a professional small business site at roughly £1,200 to £6,000, depending on who builds it and what it needs. We quote five page sites after a free chat, in writing, so you see the full price before any work starts.
Yes, for most local firms. Many people check a website before they visit, call or buy, even after finding you on Google Maps or social media. A clear site with your prices, hours and reviews helps turn that search into a visit, and it is an asset you own.
Yes, for many small brands. One page can show your products, your unit location, opening times and a contact button. If you later want online sales or stock lists, we can grow it into a larger site without starting again.
Yes. Your domain and hosting are bought in your own name, and we guide you through it. That means you keep your web address and your Google history if you ever move to another supplier. Always check this point with any designer.
Often, yes. Trade buyers want different facts from the public: lead times, minimum orders, delivery area and how to open an account. A separate trade page keeps those details clear and gives buyers a direct way to send an enquiry.
Google often finds a new site within days once it is linked to Search Console, but ranking for busy searches takes longer. A Google Business Profile with the same name, phone number and hours as your site helps local searches pick you up sooner.
Yes. We build in WordPress and show you how to change text, photos and opening hours. If you would rather not, you can ask us to make changes for you. Simple edits take a few minutes once you know where to click.
Yes. Hamza, the owner, lives in Durham and can meet you in Gateshead, at your shop or unit, or at a café nearby. Phone and video calls work just as well if you are busy. The first chat is free.
Tell us what you sell and where your customers come from. We will send back a short plan for web design in Gateshead that fits your street, with a clear price and a launch date. No obligation, and no pressure.
